Christmas in the McNeil house πŸͺπŸŽ„πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦

Although Christmas hasn’t been the same since my grandfather and great grandmother passed away we still celebrate a lot of the traditions they started.

Every year, the day after thanksgiving we always decorate the house for Christmas and while we do it we listen to Christmas music and eat thanksgiving dinner leftovers and sing and dance. Its a good time.

All throughout the month of December we make cookies. I think it’s safe to say that every weekend we make atleast more than 20 dozen cookies. The photo below is of all of the cookies we did tonight. That isn’t including cookies bars, two kinds of fudge, brownies and toffee! We take baking very seriously ! Lol

On Christmas Eve we have an ugly sweater party with friends and family and everyone comes dressed I hidieous sweaters and who ever is wearing the ugliest wins the trophy. It’s really fun. This year everyone is pitching in to order pizza and then everyone is also bringing a side dish or dessert of some sort.

Usually when we were smaller we would wake up literally at the crack of dawn, run into my parents room and rush them downstairs to open presents and then soon after we did that we’d run over to my Pop-Pop’s house to get our presents from him. Times have changed!

We wake up at a decent time now and go downstairs and open presents, then our mom makes a huge Christmas breakfast and for the rest of the day we just lounge around and snack on little finger foods that my mom puts out for us. Usually she’ll make up a snack table with cookies and cheese and crackers and shrimp and different things like that. And for dinner we order chinese, this Christmas tradition came from my Pop-Pop, when he was alive we’d all go over to his house on Christmas Day and spend the day with him and he’d by us all Chinese. So since he is no longer here we figured we’d continue the tradition.

I just wanted to share some of the things I do with my family and some of the ways we celebrate! I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!! And a blessed new year ✨
